Pizza Dinner - Not a guilt anymore !!

I try to watch every single calorie I consume, though I still find few of them irresistible and give in to my temptation..

Here is a 100% Whole Wheat Pizza -I owe this totally to my newly bought KitchenAid Food Processor, I just love it. This recipe is certain to change the frown on your hubby's face after hearing its a 'BROWN' pizza to a Smile once it gets to his mouth ;)

For the Topping :

1. 3/4 Cup Mozzarella Cheese

2. 1 Green Bell Peppers

3. 1 Yellow Bell Peppers

4, 1 Red Bell Peppers

5. 1/2 Onion

6. 1 Tbsp Crushed Red Peppers (Optional)

7. 1 Tbsp Feta Cheese (Optional)

Method :

In water luke warm (105 - 110 deg F), dissolve the yeast and the sugar. This could take 5 min. Make sure the yeast is totally dissolved , otherwise the yeast might not be an active one.

Now add the Flour , salt , honey and 1 Tbsp of Olive oil in a food processor until all the ingredients blend well together. Slowly add the water with the dissolved yeast , you could see the flour and the water mixing together to form the dough. In two minutes, he dough will be ready, You could run the processor for an additional minute in high to get an even softer dough.

Unload the dough on to a bowl and cover it with a thin plastic sheet or a kitchen towel. Keep the dough for an hour in a warm place till the dough doubles in size. (I heated my oven to 200 deg F and then switched off and placed the dough in it, this really did a great job ! )

And it doubled and I was excited ! :)

Now make the dough in to two equal portions and roll it using a rolling pin. Pinch the edges slightly to give that perfect 'Pizza look'. Dust an 8 inch pan or a Pizza stone (I havent used one though !) with corn meal , place the rolled dough - base on it. Brush the base with Olive oil. Pre-heat the oven to 475 deg F , and place the dough with any Pizza sauce , Mozzarella cheese and Veggies of your choice. Now set your table up with your favorite drink and your Pizza will be up for grabs in just 15 min.

edges were yet to be done when I clicked this !

My Topping :

Since we are not a big fan of the tomato sauce I just topped it with Mozzarella cheese , Onions and Peppers. Season the peppers with Olive oil and salt. I added Feta cheese to enhance the flavor. Sprinkle crushed peppers for a little spice.

Notes :

1. Since its a whole wheat pizza, go for a slightly thicker base, I did not have very good results with a thin base.

2. Make sure the oven is super hot, 475 - 500 deg F, wait for it to pre-heat fully for best results.

3. Be generous with your cheese, since its whole wheat ;-)

Happy turning-your-Kitchen-in-to-a-super-healthy-Pizzeria :-) !!
